QAZAQ GREEN. Uzbekistan set a new record for renewable electricity generation in February 2026. Combined output from solar and wind power plants reached 815 million kilowatt-hours, up 203% compared with the same month in 2025. The sharp increase was driven by the commissioning of new capacity and improved performance at existing facilities, according to Podrobno.uz.

Wind farms accounted for the largest share of renewable generation, producing 444 million kilowatt-hours. Solar photovoltaic plants generated a further 371 million kilowatt-hours.

For comparison, total output from these sources in February 2025 stood at 401 million kilowatt-hours, with wind generation at that time nearly three times lower.

Experts say the growing share of renewable energy helps reduce the load on thermal power plants and lowers natural gas consumption.
