Open call for women in water management
in Central Asia
The Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) announces an open call for women professionals to participate in a regional training and experience exchange seminar with Women’s Networks of Central Asia and the South Caucasus, to be held in November 2025 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
About the competition
The competition is being held as part of the projects “Climate-responsive and gender sensitive Basin Management,” implemented by CAREC in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Swiss initiative “Blue Peace Central Asia.”
The aim of the competition
To identify women professionals working in relevant ministries and government agencies in the field of water, environment, and climate with proven work experience. Selected participants will be able to undergo training on integrated water resources management (IWRM) and water diplomacy and exchange experiences with colleagues from the South Caucasus, as well as potentially become part of the Regional Network “Women in Water Management in Central Asia,” linked to the Global Network of Women in Water Diplomacy.

The program includes:
● Thematic sessions on IWRM and water diplomacy;
● Practical tasks in interregional groups;
● Sessions with a mentor on conducting gender studies.
Who can apply?
Participants must be women who:
● Are citizens of one of the Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, or Uzbekistan;
● Work in government agencies (ministries, hydrometeorological services, water management and basin organizations, etc.), non-profit organizations, academic or scientific institutions related to the water, climate, or environmental sector; Special priority will be given to women working in the field of transboundary water management;
● Are at the initial or intermediate stage of their professional career;
● Are interested in developing leadership skills, participating in regional initiatives and professional networks.

● Potential membership in the Regional Network “Women in Water Management in Central Asia.”
